Narva euro exhibition discusses the security features of the euro notes

31.08.2010

Today, on August 31 at 12 o'clock, Narva Astra shopping center holds the second information seminar of the euro door-to-door exhibition.

Ministry of Finance’s euro communication project manager Ingvar Bärenklau says that when it comes to currency exchange, it’s important that people are attentive and that they do it in a trustworthy place. “The seminar explains and shows how to recognize counterfeit money and what should be observed when checking the authenticity of the banknotes," said Bärenklau.

In total, four information seminars are held as part of the door-to-door exhibition introducing the euro which aims to provide local people with information about different aspects regarding the changeover to euro. During the upcoming weeks, representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Banking Association speak to the people of Narva about day-to-day bank activities and other issues regarding the changeover to euro. So far the listeners of the seminar have been interested foremost in the functioning of and travelling in the euro zone. Lectures are free of charge for everybody.

The exhibition introducing the euro has been open for visitors for two weeks, during this time approximately 4500 people have visited and a great number of information materials have been distributed. The euro exhibition and its seminars and quizzes are a part of a national notification campaign that hopes to increase Estonia’s people’s awareness of the practical aspects of the changeover to euro.

The euro exhibition at the Astri center is held in Estonian and Russian, entrance is free of charge for everybody. The exhibition remains open in Narva until September 15. Starting from September 20, the exhibition is open in Tallinn at the Ahhaa center and from November 8 onwards at Tartu Lõunakeskus.
